MLM Team-Building

By Michael Dlouhy

You get a great sense of satisfaction by giving with no strings attached. You can give material things, or your time, or your expertise. Doing so puts you in the right frame of mind to talk to other people about your MLM opportunity. You know you are acting in their best interest, and that is a real key.

I have driven to New York twice, to help team members when they were ready to move - one to Florida, the other to Kentucky. My son Matthew went with me and helped. I think you, as the leader of your group, need to be Example #1 of bonding and relationship-building. For your people to work well together and to really perform and prosper as a team, they need that example. When they see you walking the talk, how can they do any less?

Not too long ago, I drove 500 miles round-trip to cut down a tree for one of my team. The tree was dead, it was threatening their home, and I’ve cut down a lot of trees in my life. Linda and Matthew came with me. We made a day of it, cutting down the big old hickory tree and cutting it into pieces and hauling it all to their burn pile. We all felt great on that 250 mile ride back home. Do you think an act of kindness like that will create a long-lasting effect? I believe it does. A single act like that can set in motion a series of acts of kindness. Isn’t that a great legacy to give your team?

The lesson is simple: just look for opportunities to help.
Then do so eagerly, with no expectation of return.

But trust me, you will get the return. Immediately, your life is filled with strong positive feelings and content. Who knows what future cycles of kindness you may have started? And last, but certainly not least - you have strengthened your network marketing relationships.

That’s definitely not a bad thing.

The MLM Attitude - YOU Are In Charge

By Michael Dlouhy

As you know, your personal life and your MLM business life don’t always run on an even keel. The more aware you are of that fact, the more important it is to you to focus your attention on the good and positive, and to minimize or change the bad and negative.

Some people can get really caught up in a “down” mood. In a good mood, you feel great. Your common sense is in charge, and you see life as it really as, and as good as you can make it become. Problems aren’t any big deal. Relationships are easy. You can handle anything.

But when we’re on the dark side of the moon, life is a lot tougher. We can really beat ourselves up. And we distrust others and take what they say very personally.

Here’s the craziest thing. When you are in that dark mood, it is 100% of the time going to change back to a good mood, even if you do NOTHING! And you can certainly help it along. Good books, good audiotapes, a good listener … all of these can help you with a fast turnaround.

We’ve all seen the swings in others, and we’ve seen them do some pretty weird things when they are in the “low” mood. And then a little later, we see them and everything is right with their world.

Since your mood is going to change back anyway, what is the point in getting all upset, feeling we live under a dark cloud, that our whole life has fallen apart in the last 45 minutes? Doesn’t that seem pretty ridiculous?

Anytime you’re feeling low, just recognize it as a mood. “This, too, shall pass.” Why let yourself get sucked into a downward spiral? Someone once wrote that people in bad moods tend to come up with permanent solutions to temporary problems. I’ve never heard it said better. YOU are in charge. YOU know the mood will pass. Whatever bad thoughts you have about your personal life or your MLM business at any time, they will soon be replaced by good ones, whether you do anything or not. And the good news is, you CAN do things to speed the process back to a positive state of mind. The more you take charge, the happier you will be, and the longer your “good” moods will last.

Stress-Free MLM - Don’t Sweat It!

By Michael Dlouhy

I talk to people on a regular basis who seem to be constantly on pins and needles, waiting for the next emergency in their personal life or their network marketing business. And for a fair part of the population, WHATEVER happens next gets treated as an emergency. And most of the time, it’s one of those things they won’t even remember 6 months down the road.

Life is not an emergency … but you should definitely act with urgency to achieve your goals.

Here’s the thing about life: it is a never-ending series of events, as long as you live. Events like:

1. You’re late for an appointment with a hot lead.
2. The guy who mows your lawn can’t make it this week.
3. The big picnic got cancelled because of rain.
4. Your car had a flat tire.
5. The garbage can is overflowing.
6. Your dog had puppies.
7. That new person in your office isn’t working out.
8. Your prospect’s computer crashed and they can’t sign up.
9. The War in Iraq is still going on.
10. The network is cancelling your favorite TV show.

It’s amazing to me how many people neglect their families and their own dreams because of an event like those listed above. These are people whose life goes from one emergency to the next. What they don’t see is that we all have those same events in our lives. But most people don’t act like it’s an emergency.

No matter how many hours a week you work, your ‘in basket’ will never been empty. Even after you die, those events will just keep right on coming.

The truth for your life is, don’t sweat the small stuff. Nothing on that list is worth losing a moment’s sleep over. Just keep right on working on the stuff that is REALLY important in your life. Ignore the rest of it. Or if you can’t ignore it, at least don’t compound the problem by getting upset over it. Just do what you must and let it go.

At some time along life’s way, we all create our own emergencies. That’s OK. As soon as you recognize it, let it go. Be easy on yourself. Most of these things will make zero difference in the outcome of even one day, let alone have a lasting impact on your life.

MLM Planning - Will THIS Make a Difference?

By Michael Dlouhy

Almost daily, I talk with people who focus on stuff that will either make no difference or will actually have a negative impact on their business and/or personal life.

This is a lack of perspective. When you’re in the heat of the moment is NOT the time to be making your next decision. MLM planning is best done in your peaceful moments, by yourself, with no outside pressures. You can see clearly and you can plan clearly.

Those pressures will show up on a regular basis, for sure. It’s critical to your MLM success that when you must deal with situations, you follow a plan prepared in advance for exactly this circumstance. The alternative is to react when your mind is in turmoil. Not a good time to be reacting.

And when planning how to handle a situation, train yourself to have some perspective. Imagine that you are actually a year in the future, looking back at this “problem”. Then ask this question:

Was that thing really any big deal?

Most of the situations people agonize over today, they won’t even remember a year from now. So what’s the point of wasting time focusing on something like that?

Occasionally, you’ll come up with something that IS a big deal. And this little trick will help you spot it when it happens. But you’ll learn that most of the time, the best course is just to make ANY decision and get on with your life and your MLM business.

Maybe you had an argument with someone close to you. Maybe you handled a prospect badly. Or lost your wallet. Or caught the flu. Will you even remember it a year from now?

Chances are, it’ll be just one more irrelevant detail. Taking this perspective won’t make everything go away, but you’re sure to laugh at some of the situations that used to throw you for a loop. So instead of getting angry and/or overwhelmed, plan ahead. Train yourself to use your energy for better purposes.

We appreciate you!
