MLM Strategy: The Other Reason Not To Recruit Friends & Family

By Michael Dlouhy

Almost everybody in MLM knows the feeling of being avoided and/or rejected by friends & family. When you recruit friends and family, three things can happen … and two of them are bad:

1. They are successful in your business and your relationship strengthens.

2. They reject your idea and don’t want to join your business, and they’re annoyed at you for what they might see as trying to take advantage of them. This leads to tension at future family gatherings.

3. They do join you, and they fail. Result? See #2 above.

And then there’s another problem that often comes up. When you share your dream with people you care about, they often are sizing you up based on past experience. They’ve known you a long time. Maybe they’re jealous. Maybe your past success annoys them. Maybe your past failure helps them feel superior to you. Maybe they really don’t want to see you be successful.

Total strangers, on the other hand, have no bias. It’s a new relationship, and they often become your biggest fans. Unlike friends & family, their impression isn’t formed by what they know about you (or think they know).

None of us is perfect. We all have weaknesses. The idea is to succeed despite your limitations … and along the way, work at eliminating those weaknesses. To succeed, you will need others to follow your lead. It may well be easier for people who don’t know you to believe in you than it is for people who do know you.

And for sure, you don’t want to put yourself in a situation where you’re trying to lead people who’ve already decided they don’t believe in you.

Just one more reason why - for most people - it’s best to avoid recruiting friends and family until you already have built a successful business. THEN, if their perceptions of you are positive, invite them into your business.

MLM Thinking: Problems Are a Blessing

By Michael Dlouhy

Napoleon Hill said that when you choose people for your mastermind team, avoid anyone who sees defeat as a negative. The people who will benefit you the most in building your MLM business are those who don’t much worry about failure or adversity. Serious problems are a fact of every great venture. The correct attitude is to recognize them, understand them, and overcome them.

Unfortunately, some people are ruled by their fears. So they mostly sit on their thumbs, afraid to take action. Those are not people you want advice from, unless your goal is to stay in the same place.

And that’s not all. Whenever these people actually DO get started, they’ll usually give up at the first sign of trouble. They’ll tell you the sky is falling, and that you had better get off the playing field and into a bomb shelter.

If you are serious about achieving your dreams, learn the Colors Personality techniques so you can team up with people who will truly support you verbally and physically. You want to work with people who look at problems as a blessing. When you find the other kind, explain the Colors to them. Tell them how they need to change in order to become an achiever. Let them know that once they do that, you’ll be happy to have them in your MLM mastermind group. But until then, no, thank you!

MLM Success - A Simple 10-Step Plan

By Michael Dlouhy

Experience really IS the best teacher, especially if you’re looking for MLM success. The key to success & happiness in business and in life is to cut your bad experiences short and let your good experiences run. So how do you do that?

1. Remind yourself every day to put yourself in the best position to have good experience.

2. Do some MLM business-building activity that really excites you, not just what others say you are “supposed” to do. When you act with passion, your incredible energy makes you much more likely to have positive experience.

3. Be totally open with your mate (or potential mate) about your network marketing passion, and get your mate’s commitment & support.

4. Be curious about EVERYTHING, no matter how far it may seem to be from what you are doing. Great discoveries are often just an old idea in one field, moved to a new field.

5. Avoid negative people.

6. Go with your gut. Trust yourself and your instincts. A person who performs any task confidently will get results that others think are impossible.

7. Note your weaknesses. Work out a program to improve them.

8. To have more, you must BE more. Schedule time every day to work on improving your skills and your mindset.

9. Live by the 80/20 rule. 20% of the effort gets 80% of the results. Being a perfectionist is a total waste of your time.

10. Help yourself first. That way, you can become the person others go to when they need help. They know you will get the result they want.

You can jot down keywords from these simple ideas on a 3×5″ card and carry it with you. Look at it several times a day, as a reminder, to keep yourself on track for MLM success.

5 MLM Leadership Power Keys

By Michael Dlouhy

Focus on these 5 strategies to guide your MLM team to success, and you’ll be recognized as a network marketing leader.

1. Focus on the opportunity in every problem. Take the complex and make it simple. Then explore, discover and plan the best course of action to turn every problem into an opportunity.

You need to systematically investigate, evaluate, map, organize & communicate solutions.

2. Be bold.
Picture in full detail the outcome you want. Then engage & inspire your group. Show them your compelling vision. Excite their hearts, minds, souls & spirits.

Learn to focus, create, shape, sharpen and publicize your vision as you encourage your team to embrace it and its inevitable outcomes.

3. Help your MLM team prioritize. Keep the agenda REALLY simple. Concentrate on training your people to:

a. Find prospects.

b. Follow up with prospects.

c. Build long-term value-based relationships.

d. Continue following up on a regular basis (at least monthly) by email & phone, building the relationship, until that person opts out or joins them.

4. Develop a strong plan and stick to it.

Strategic planning is critical. A good working strategy encourages your team to trust you and to follow through on the details of your plan. Be sure to design a system that lets you monitor their activities in some way, so you can know whether they are actually following through correctly.

5. Be trustworthy. Be fair, honest, and consistent when dealing with your MLM team. Your behavior reflects your character.

Focus on these 5 leadership power keys, and you will be successful.
