The #1 Secret To Close Relationships

By Michael Dlouhy

What we know for certain is that when you really listen to someone, they love you for it. The problem for most people is, they know that whoever they are talking to is only waiting for their chance to talk. That is confirmed for them when you start talking immediately when their sentence is finished.

So try this:

1. Let them finish.
2. Take a breath.
3. Talk.

When you start talking immediately, the result is often annoyance or irritation. But that short pause of a second or two after the other person finishes can make a huge difference in the way they perceive you. You aren’t just in a verbal boxing match, waiting for them to finish so you can jump in. Instead, you are … actually … listening!

People aren’t used to others who really want to hear their complete thought. It’s a big sense of relief for them, and they are likely to put a much greater value on talking with you.

And that is a great start to a strong network marketing business relationship.

MLM Success Attitude - Expect Change

By Michael Dlouhy

There’s one thing you can be certain about in your MLM business - just as in your life - it will change. If you’ve been at network marketing very long, you have already seen a ton of change. In your group, your company, your leaders, yourself. Change can be traumatic … but only if you let it.

People get closer. People drift away. Business goes well. Business sags. People are born. People die. Companies flourish. Companies die. The only constant is change, so it just doesn’t make sense to be totally surprised when things change.

It makes a lot more sense to expect change. When your car breaks down, why be surprised or disappointed or - in some cases - immobilized? Most towns in the U.S. - even little itty-bitty towns - have one or more auto repair shops loaded with cars that stopped working today or yesterday. Obviously, it’s very predictable.

I’ve seen people go into a tailspin in network marketing because their best person quit. Sure, it’s a setback. So what? As they say, if it were easy, everybody would do it. The biggest part of your success in your MLM business is your mind - your attitude. I can guarantee you, bad things will happen on your road to success. So expect that. Plan for it. And plan to just keep right on going, regardless.

THAT is how you will achieve your dreams.

MLM Relationship-Building - Mine The Gold From Other People’s Ideas

By Michael Dlouhy

Everybody has opinions & ideas. Some are good. A few are great. Everyone wants to be part of a successful team. They get excited if their ideas help create success. It’s worth your time to really listen to and examine the ideas of others. Spot the really good parts and pull them out, acknowledge the person, and make their idea a part of the team plan. What else could you do that could ever cement relationships better than to celebrate and put into practice the thoughts of your team members?

It can be easy to fall into the habit of looking for the problems with somebody else’s thinking. What could possibly sabotage a relationship quicker than that? It’s important to police your own thinking regularly, so you don’t dismiss someone else’s idea. Look for the truth in what they said. Look for the unique angle that you can graft onto another idea and which suddenly creates magic.

It all starts with really listening to others. It sounds like such a simple thing … but so few people actually do it. When you practice really listening, you will understand people better. More than that, they will be drawn to you because they see you as a caring person. And then when you actually hear their idea and incorporate some part of it into your team approach in some way … that demonstrates to them how much you value them. When they have that relationship with you, it’s very, very difficult for them to ever make the decision to leave you and join somebody else’s group.

Listening works!

Make It Safe for Your MLM Team Members To Vent

By Michael Dlouhy

For your network marketing team to flourish and really develop deep bonds with you, they need to feel safe in telling you exactly what they’re thinking. At times, this may be painful for you. At times, you may disagree.

Consider the alternative: certain members of your team are scared of you, scared to tell you of a problem that they see. If they don’t feel safe enough to tell you what they are thinking, you have trouble in your future.

Result? Their questions don’t get answered. They make no progress. They stagnate. They are unproductive. They don’t trust you, and they feel unsafe in talking to you about it.

Will some people complain about ridiculous stuff? Sure. But to them, it’s not ridiculous. Sometimes, just knowing that you really listened to them makes the problem go away.

But better yet … here and there you will learn some things you didn’t know. It’s not unusual for successful people to get in a mindset of “My way or the highway!” But there are many ways to skin a cat. And the more ways your team has of being successful, the better off your organization will be in the long run. When you really listen to others, you will learn stuff that can change your life.
